Dear Parents,
Congratulations as you celebrate your child's journey into faith. This is a great time of joy and celebration for you, your family, and your parish family here at Saint Jude's. Your decision to have your child baptized shows that you recognize the importance of God in your life and in the life of your child. There is great responsibility in choosing to raise your child in the Catholic faith, and your parish family at Saint Jude's looks forward to walking with you and your child on your journey.
There are a few things that we will need to do to schedule a date for your child's baptism and some information that we will need from you as well. By contacting our parish office, we can walk you through all of the details and answer any questions that you may have.
Our clergy and volunteers offer a dynamic Baptism Workshop on the first Saturday of each month for parents preparing to have their first child baptized. We will discuss the beauty of the sacrament, the gift of God’s grace, keys to Catholic parenting, and the gift of Godparents.
“Jesus sent the disciples out to baptize and from that time until today, there is a chain in the transmission of the faith through Baptism. Each of us is a link in that chain. We’re always moving ahead like a river. Through Baptism, we enter the people of God. We transmit our faith to our children, and when they are grown up, they transmit the faith to their children. And that is how God’s grace works. This is most important: We are the people of God who walk and transmit the faith.”
